Tamon Kaneshige - Bizen Yunomi

Tamon Kaneshige is the eldest son of Makoto Kaneshige.
He makes Bizen ware using Maruyama kiln, designed by Sozan Kanesige.
He makes Bizen ware in the traditional way of the Kanesige family.
He uses no machinery when making clay,And the clay is sorted by hand.
This Yunomi was made using the sandy part of the clay mass.

He was born in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture in 1977 as the eldest son of Makoto Kanesuge.
He became his father's disciple in 2004.

Masao Akiya is a disciple of Jun Isezaki.
He uses the same black clay as Jun Isezaki.

Add a small amount of cobalt after dissolving them in water to make it liquid.
This work is taken out of kiln during firing, so the color is vivid.

Toyo Kaneshige - Bizen Yunomi

I think this Yunomi was made around 1955, guessing from the shape of the Toyo mark.
This Yunomi is made from fine clay with low iron content.
This Yunomi has some mysterious points that can't be imagined in normal Toyo.
Toyo doesn't use a strong fire pattern on Yunomi, but this Yunomi has a beautiful and intense fire pattern.
And He also doesn't carve Kanji on the body.
The kanji "GYOKU" means jewels and possessions of the king.
For the above reasons, I think this Yunomi was created with a special intention.

Since becoming young he became famous for its wonderful work(Saiku-mono).
But he thought that the original beauty of Bizen ware is in Momoyama style.
He improved the kiln and the clay, and greatly developed Bizen.
He was accredited as a living human national treasure in 1956.
He died in 1967.
