Kosuke Kaneshige - Bizen Yunomi

20,000 YEN
Sold out

size : W7.6cm×7.5cm×H9.9cm

Kousuke Kaneshige is the third son of Toyo Kaneshige.
He lives in Kagato, Bizen City, where potters have lived since the old days.
He creates traditional Bizen ware and innovative sculptures while following the teachings of his father, Toyo Kaneshige.
This is the latest work he fired at the end of 2020.
It is his characteristic design that makes the neckline near the center of the body.
On the surface of the work Beautiful yellow Goma is attached to give a smooth texture.

Shuroku Harada - Bizen Yunomi

66,000 YEN
Sold out

size : W8.8cm×8.7cm×H7.8cm

Shuroku Harada was studying old Bizen ware.
He was a student of ceramics researcher Katsura Matazaburo.
The knowledge gained is the basis of his pottery style.
He hasn't fired kiln in recent years.
This Yunomi has a lot of natural glaze so that it seems as if it was glazed.
The strong flame produces a natural black color due to the reaction between the clay components and the flame.
There is his own way to make the body.
He builds the body by stacking clay into tubes.
Finally, a large cut with a spatula "Shinogi" is used to complete the design.
The inner edges have hidden cuts to improve usability rather than design, which helps to understand his style of pottery.

Masahiro Miyao - Kuro cup

14,500 YEN
Sold out

size : W9.1cm×9.0cm×H8.9cm

He presents his work in two ways: traditional Bizen ware style and black style.
This cup is made in black style.
It is a technique to apply mud containing a small amount of cobalt, which has been popular since 2000.
Black-style pieces have a beautiful black clay color that is roughly glossy and a bright cobalt blue fire pattern.
However, this time suddenly a pink fire pattern occurred.
He doesn't know the cause, but I find it very interesting.

Takashi Soga - Bizen Kohuku Chawan

27,500 YEN
Sold out

size : W9.2cm×9.1cm×H8.3cm

Takashi Soga researches old Bizen were and uses it as a hint for his work creation.
He does not use any kiln tools made with modern chemistry.
He wants to recreate the environment where the old Bizen ware was made in his atelier.
His work, made in a unique environment, is very similar to old Bizen ware.
This work is his new Kohuku Chawan, which was just burned in July 2020.
This Kohuku Chawan is very lightly made with his commitment.
Kohuku means to drink a little.
It can also be used as a large Yunomi.

19,800 YEN
Sold out

size : cup:W12.1cm×8.9cm×H9.2cm
saucer:W18.2cm×9.5cm×H2.3cm

Koji Nakahara is a potter who works in two places, Osaka and Bizen.
He is commissioned to make bespoke tableware by a famous restaurant in Osaka.
And in Bizen, he is learning about Bizen ware from his teacher, Fumio Kawabata.
He uses an electric kiln to turn Hidasuki into a metallic color.
And the clay is not completely mixed to make it even.
As a result, the metallic color looks like a tiger pattern.
Susogo is a word used to dye clothes.
He named it because the gradation from pink gold to dark gray is similar.

Seiho Kakumi - Bizen Sue style Yunomi

This is his work in the 1980s.

Ken Fujiwara - Bizen Yunomi

50,000 YEN
Sold out

size : W7.0cm×6.9cm×H9.2cm

This Yunomi was fired by a large Anagama near the end of his career.
It has a color similar to the high-quality white clay used by Toyo Kanesige.
He put it in a cylinder and fired it, so the rim was lit and turned caramel brown.
I feel the influence of Toyo and Kaneshige on this Yunomi design.
The color and pattern of the hidasuki suits the design well, and it is a very complete Yunomi.

She learned the technique of firing and modeling from Anjin Abe.
She makes use of these techniques to create works that feel powerful and gorgeous.

The surface of the dried work is coated with iron-rich mud.
"Chu-hai" is her original title, which has the characteristics of both rock glass and Yunomi.

Yoshiteru Takariki - Bizen Katakuchi

4,400 YEN
Sold out

size : W14.3cm×14.0cm×H7.4cm

He inherits the skills and spirit of Sozan Kaneshige.
The simple and undecorated design highlights the beauty of Bizen clay.
He believes that the work will be completed in the hands of the user.
This Katakuchi is sprinkled with ash before firing.
He planned and fired it to be an artificial Yohen.
The ash melts with heat and adheres to katakuchi as a glaze.

Sold out

This work was fired by Sozan at about 60 years old at Maruyama kiln.
There are many fire patterns in this work.
I feel Kasegoma, Yohen, Sangiri and Goma.
The exposed clay part, which was not covered with natural glaze, has also changed to various colors.
It is a work where you can enjoy the various colors that are characteristic of the Noborigama kiln.
