Although not an official disciple, he was a student of Sozan Kaneshige.
He learned how to make good clay and design from Sozan.
This Guinomi was made around 1989.
This Guinomi was burned in a narrow passage called Suana.
The blackish ash cover is mixed with a fire pattern of yellow and green natural glaze.
Another characteristic of Suana is its clay color, which is mixed with a lot of red.


Koichiro Isezaki - Hikidashiguro Guinomi

Koichiro Isezaki is Jun Isezaki's eldest son.
He uses kiln in a tunnel-like shape called "anagama".
This Guinomi was fired in July 2023.
Hikidashi means taking out the work from Kiln during firing.
The works that touched the outside air will be cooled rapidly and will change to a different color from normal Bizen ware.
In this work, the attached ash (pine) becomes transparent and looks like a amber.
The black part is coated with special clay and is indigo by Hikidashi effect.
The simple design does not prevent you from observing the indigo beauty of this Guinomi.
In the past, Bizen ware had never been used to express the universe or the sky.

This is Tokkuri made by Rokuro Nakamura who is called a master of sake ware.

This shape is his most distinctive design.

He firing with a straight hole-shaped kiln called "Anagama".

The fired works will have a brown or white gradation based on the bright red.
He wrapped rice straw in his work and fired it.
The color and shape of rice straw changes from part to part due to the influence of natural glaze.

Shino glaze changed to more complex shades with Noboligama kiln.

"Kuro" is made of clay with a high iron content in the Osafune district of Okayama prefecture.
Add a small amount of cobalt after dissolving them in water to make it liquid.
The black clay applied to the work changes to beautiful black when fired.
The natural glaze accumulated on the wall of the kiln spilled and adhered to this Guinomi.
They reacted with Kuro's liquid clay and turned into pale blue glass.
