This Guinomi was fired in October 2022.
He is also good at making sake wares, just like Rokuro Nakamura.
The characteristic of Nakamura Clan is the red clay color.
However, this work is burned in a fiery flame until it loses its red clay color.
The melted ash has solidified and changed like a black stone.
A little red clay color is left inside, despite the fierce flames.
I am impressed by the power of his clay.

Tomoyuki Matsui - Bizen Neriage Guinomi
11,000 YENSold out
size : W6.3cm×6.3cm×H6.3cmI would guess that he created this piece around 1992.
He invented various new ways of firing Bizen ware in addition to standard Bizen ware.
This is one such piece, a "Neriage" piece made of multiple folded and stacked layers of different types of clay, which are then formed on the potter's wheel.
In addition to the marbled pattern of Neriage, the natural glaze adhering to the surface causes further changes in coloration.
Guinomi's exemplary design is typical of his work as a pottery instructor.

This technique is called "tatara" in Bizen.
